The Calumet Astronomical Society will be hosting an open house at the Thomas Conway Observatory. Members of the Society will have their telescopes set up on the observing patio to take visitors on a tour of the many celestial wonders in our night sky. Emphasis will be placed on viewing Jupiter, Mars, Saturn and Uranus.
As a special treat, the observatory will be open and visitors will have an opportunity to take a look through the eyepiece of its 16 inch scope at the Rings of Saturn. Other objects that will be visible through the telescopes of our members include a waxing crescent Moon, Double Star Systems, Globular Star Clusters and the Andromeda Galaxy.
NOTE: Observing with telescopes is dependent on clear weather conditions. Inclement weather or cloudy sky conditions could cause this event to be canceled with little advanced warning. Please visit the CAS website, www.casonline.org, for a status update before heading to the observatory.
