Annual Events

Our event calendar ensures that you won't miss any of the amazing events going on along the South Shore of Lake Michigan.

Northwest Indiana is home to a number of annual destination events. The most well-known festival is Pierogi Fest® every July in Whiting. The fest is an opportunity for the residents to celebrate their heritage while poking a little fun at themselves at the same time. The parade and festival have received countrywide recognition having been featured on the Food Network and the Travel Channel.

Popcorn Festival in Valparaiso, held annually the Saturday after Labor Day, is held in honor of the late Orville Redenbacher, popcorn mogul and former Valparaiso resident. The festival features a popcorn-themed parade, streets lined with craft and food booths as well as activities for the kids.

Festival of the Lakes, every July in Hammond, hosts nightly concerts by popular music groups, special events, fair rides, games and food vendors.

The "A Christmas Story" Comes Home exhibit at the Indiana Welcome Center in Hammond is on display every year during the holiday season. Discover six animatronic window displays from Macy's Department Store in New York featuring scenes from the iconic movie, "A Christmas Story."
