Northwest Indiana Wineries

Did you know wineries are plentiful across Northwest Indiana? In fact, some of these even have vineyards on site! The South Shore is a great starting point for wine enthusiasts of all levels, offering a surprising variety of wines grown in Indiana soil. Wine tasting, anyone?

Running Vines Winery

While Running Vines is situated in a quaint downtown area of Chesterton, don’t let its humble location fool you—this is one of the best wineries in Indiana, having won multiple prizes for its various vintages. Using grapes sourced from around the world, this winery is known for its family atmosphere, as well as for its delicious, Italian-inspired food menu including salads and thin-crust pizzas.

Aftermath Cidery and Winery

This woman-owned cidery and winery in Valparaiso crafts house-made ciders like the dry Earthquake and fruit-infused Hurricane (apple-cranberry). Seasonal flavors, local wines, and a menu of shareable bites and wood-fired pizzas make it a go-to spot! Weekly events like Cider Jams (live music), Singo and trivia nights keep things lively.

Carpenter Creek Cellars

As one of the top wineries in Indiana, Carpenter Creek in Remington is a must-visit. This farm-style winery offers free tastings, plus outdoor music events on its sprawling lawn! It’s also the perfect place to host a small party. Guests can book its event space for things like weddings, baby showers, and all sorts of celebrations.

Four Corners

This rustic winery is situated in a restored 19th-century building—known as the Farmhaus—has become one of Indiana’s most beautiful wine-tasting spaces. Psst, don’t forget to order a glass of their Traminette, an Indiana classic (and Gold Medal winner at the State Fair).

Shady Creek Winery

Shady Creek Winery, tucked away in Michigan City, is unique in that it blends grapes from Indiana and California to produce some of the region’s most unique reds and whites. Unwind on the mezzanine or by the fireplace and take in live music on Fridays and Sundays.

Manic Meadery

This meadery in Crown Point offers small-batch mead and cider made from locally sourced honey and fruit, as well as classic wines produced in-house. Regular events like Paint & Sip make this spot a lively place to gather. And while there’s no food menu, guests can bring their own snacks (or order delivery from a local restaurant).
