Winding nature trails take visitors through forested valleys and hillsides to lovingly cultivated formal gardens along the banks or Trail Creek. The grounds are home to historic Heritage Gardens commemorating cultures around the world, along with brand new plots like the ArcelorMittal Children's Garden, an interactive arena for nature-based play experiences. Friendship Botanic Gardens is an idyllic setting for picnics, hiking, meditation, as well as momentous cultural events like the annual Lyric Opera of Chicago concert.

Planning your special day? The scenic vistas of Friendship Botanic Gardens are an unforgettable backdrop for weddings and other special events. The ecologically rich old-growth forests and wetlands that surround the gardens are the perfect natural classroom for environmental education events like our annual Monarch Butterfly Bonanza. Become a member for access to the grounds year-round. Members also have access to the world class trout and salmon fishing along nearly 2,000 feet of Trail Creek shoreline. Pets on a leash are welcome.
