Christmas & Holiday Events
We love to find ways to celebrate the holidays in Northwest Indiana!
Celebrate the Irish at the nighttime St. Patrick's Day Parade in downtown Crown Point in March and then get ready for Easter with some of the best brunch buffets and fun family events.
In May and June, read our blogs to find out what's happening for Mother's Day and Father's Day.
The 4th of July is honored with parades and fireworks happening throughout the region, along with the multi-day Cedar Lake Summerfest.
In September, the town of Lowell's community puts on the Labor Day Festival, complete with a parade, fireworks, live music, family activities, vendors and beer garden.
Come visit for a frightening good time in October with Halloween events for all ages and creepy haunted houses.
When it's time for turkey in November, we have ideas for things to do Thanksgiving week, plus a list of restaurants open for the holiday.
Get into the Christmas spirit at a performance of The Nutcracker by Indiana Ballet Theatre. Visit the Indiana Welcome Center in Hammond from mid-November through December to see the “A Christmas Story” Comes Home exhibit, featuring six animatronic window displays from Macy’s in New York. Each display is a different scene from the holiday classic “A Christmas Story”. The first Saturday in December, celebrate the holiday season with Hammond’s Holiday Parade through downtown. In the evenings, take your family out to view holiday light displays throughout the South Shore.
End the year with a New Year's Eve Ball Drop at the square in Crown Point, or countdown with a giant pierogi drop in Whiting, voted as one of USA Today's Best NYE Drops!
