Remington, Indiana
Perfectly situated halfway between Chicago and Indianapolis, Remington offers plenty of hometown charm to visitors. This small agricultural community was founded in 1860 and was originally known as Carpenter Station or Carpenter, after Carpenter's Creek.
Jasper County's original winery, Carpenter Creek Cellars, is a unique winery appropriately named for the area. Carpenter Creek Cellars produces world-class wines featuring the best fruit the Midwest has to offer. Visit the tasting room housed in a beautifully restored horse barn-turned-winery and sample their exceptional Hoosier wines.
While visitors may enter Remington hungry, they certainly don't have to leave the same way. Visitors can enjoy homemade meals, delicious desserts and freshly baked pies as well as perfectly prepared pizzas, salads and sandwiches during their stay.
Visitors looking to extend their stay in Remington can choose from hotel or camping accommodations. Caboose Lake Campground offers RV sites and rentals, cabin and caboose rentals as well as a roomy park model rental for larger groups and families. Visitors can enjoy fishing on the 20-acre spring-fed lake or splashing in the Summer Beach Family Fun Zone, featuring a 35-foot hippo water slide, bumper boats, inflatables and more.
For over 100 years, Remington has been hosting the Fountain Park Chautauqua. This two-week celebration aims to bring religion, education, culture, family values and fellowship to the community. Chautauqua attendees can enjoy guest speakers, live musical entertainment, quilting classes, youth activities and so much more.
