Transportation
Whether by train, plane, bus, or car traveling to and around the South Shore of Lake Michigan can be done with ease. Situated along what many call the crossroads of America, there are numerous interstates that make traveling by car quick and easy. For those traveling by plane, the South Shore is only 45 minutes to an hour from Chicago's two major airports, Midway and O'Hare. Once you arrive, there are numerous car rental and cab companies in the area to get you where you want to go.
During your stay, you can easily take a daytrip into Chicago by car or take advantage of the South Shore Train with stations in Hammond, Gary and East Chicago. If you opt to drive, save time and avoid the congestion of I-80/94 by taking the Cline Avenue Bridge, a shortcut between Northwest Indiana and Chicago.
