Indiana Welcome Center

The Indiana Welcome Center is a helpful stop when visiting Hammond to find things to do throughout the region. If you’re in town during the holiday season, the Indiana Welcome Center is home to the “A Christmas Story” exhibit, featuring six animatronic window displays with scenes from the classic Christmastime movie.
 

Wolf Lake, Lakefront & Outdoor Experiences

Step outside for some outdoor fun at Wolf Lake Memorial Park, and venture out on the water with on-site canoe, kayak, paddle boat, or paddleboard rentals. Kids can escape the heat at the next-door Aquatic Center.   

For a full day out on the water, book a spot on a charter fishing boat and catch Lake Michigan salmon, steelhead or perch during full- or half-day outings. Hammond Marina offers beginner sailing lessons, launch ramps and a range of summer-long events for all. The marina is also home to Hammond Lakefront Park Beach & Bird Sanctuary, where you can bask in the sun and enjoy a treat from the concession stand. 

If you prefer hiking, take a shaded forest walk through the Gibson Woods Nature Preserve, a popular spot amongst birdwatchers.

Catch a show at the Towle Theater, a local staple for live performances. For year-round fun, HC3 in the Hessville neighborhood hosts events like ‘Live in the ‘Ville’, a St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Frostyville. For kids, Ninja Kidz Action Park offers indoor adventure play.
