Keep South Shore Safe

Masks are required on public transportation, and in LaPorte Lake Counties as well as on national park and state government properties, both inside buildings and in outdoor spaces where you cannot socially distance. Most businesses still require masks and we suggest calling ahead or checking online for details regarding each business’s policy.

Please note: At this time, we suggest contacting the attractions or checking their websites to confirm they will be open before arriving or purchasing tickets.

Agritourism dates back to the late 1800s, when families and friends visited relatives on farms to escape the city. Agritourism today incorporates education and activities for visitors who are looking to better understand the farm to fork process. Among the South Shore's agritourism opportunities are wineries, dairies, restaurants, U-pick orchards and farms, pumpkin patches, corn mazes and farmers' markets.

Farmers' Markets

Many of the communities along the South Shore host farmers' markets from spring to fall, featuring the freshest produce, flowers, artisan breads, homemade jams and more.

Orchards and U-Picks

From summer to fall, visit the local u-picks to find blueberries and strawberries. In September and October, head to the apple orchards and pumpkin patches for a fun fall activity.

County Line Orchard in Hobart offers apple picking and pumpkin hunting as well as a corn mazes, petting zoo, live entertainment and an on-site restaurant where you can pick up their infamous fresh doughnuts.

Broken Wagon Bison

Located on 160 acres in Hobart, Broken Wagon Bison has a herd of more than 70 bison and provides locally grown bison meat, bison leather goods, and bison hides, as well as one-of-a-kind jewelry at their store. They also have tours available June through September.
