Kentland, Indiana
Kentland, "Where Agriculture and Industry Meet", is an important crossroads on Highway 41 and Route 24. It is the county seat of Newton County. Founded in 1860 by Alexander J. Kent as Kent, it was soon lengthened to Kentland.
Kentland is home to the Newton County Pun'kin Vine Fair held every July for more than ninety years.
Visitors to Kentland can also enjoy fine dining at The Old Colonial Inn, a hearty breakfast at The Good Table Restaurant or delicious pizza at Monical's. Don's Drive In is a staple for a great burger.
Interesting facts about Kentland:
- It is the birth place of George Ade, turn-of-the- century playwright, author, humorist and benefactor of Purdue University's Ross-Ade Stadium, home to Boilermaker football.
- Geologists believe that the Kentland area was the site of an ancient giant meteorite impact.
- Kentland is served by a Carnegie Library, granted in 1909.
