Please note: The Gabis Arboretum at Purdue Northwest is proud to serve the community as an oasis for respite and relaxation during these uncertain times. The arboretum’s 300 acres provide ample opportunity to experience nature while maintaining a safe distance from others.

To help lessen the spread of the COVID-19 virus, we have made some adjustments to our daily activities and the way the arboretum is operating. To enforce social distancing guidelines, we are offering free admission until such time that fees can be collected safely on site. We have recently reopened the trails for hiking, but our facilities remained closed. Any high touch areas, including the Railway Garden, remain closed also. We have cancelled or postponed all on-site programs, classes and events until further notice.

Dog-friendly hiking trails, gardens, children's adventure area, and model train garden. Weekly events, classes, exhibits and bird-watching programs. Choose an activity or claim a quiet corner surrounded by 330 acres of natural inspiration. Themed displays include the Hitz Family Rose Garden, Native Plant Garden, Oak Islands, Children's Adventure Garden and the Railway Garden.

Gabis Arboretum offers Mobility Tours for guests. Tours last one hour and take guests through four gardens at the Arboretum. The carts can accommodate up to 13 people, and the cost is $5/person (plus regular admission). Make your reservation one week in advance by calling (219) 742-8147.
