Growing up, my dad and I used to watch a lot of black and white television shows - think the Twilight Zone - and movies like the Rear Window. There is nothing better than relaxing on a Saturday or Sunday morning watching old movies! When I saw the Theatre at the Center was performing a Hitchcock mystery, "The 39 Steps," I couldn't pass it up.

This was one Hitchcock movie that I hadn't seen and I went in without any knowledge of the story. The only piece I had read was that the production would feature only 4 actors, but play a number of different characters. The heroes, villains as well as inanimate objects are all played by the same 2 actors - with lighting fast quick-changes offering a huge dose of humor.

Going in, I was expecting drama, but was pleasantly surprised when I came out laughing. This spy story takes place in 1930s England and Scotland and features allusions to other Hitchcock films. (I'm proud to say that I caught all of them!) This play has it all: a murder, an adventure, a manhunt, spies and romance!

The stand-up cast and the Theatre at the Center did an incredible job. They never skipped a beat, even when an audience member's phone was ringing, they made it part of their performance. I can't wait to attend in the future to see what else they have in store!
