South Shore Weather
Northwest Indiana is known for its dynamic weather. The Midwest experiences all four seasons, but when those seasons begin and end can change from year to year, and even day to day! From 80 degrees and sunny during the day to 45 degrees at night, you never know what Mother Nature is going to throw your way along the South Shore.
Spring begins slowly, still holding onto the final days of snow and cold. But when the weather catches up to the season, the South Shore is blooming with things to do! Flowers and trees make all the parks and trails the perfect place to go and get active after a few months of cold. The South Shore also has many downtown areas full of perfect shopping opportunities to get you outside and taking in the warmer weather.
Typically hot and humid during the summer months, take a minute to check the weather before you hit the beach or stroll along the shops in one of our many historic downtowns and make sure you have all of the essentials to get through the day.
Fall in the South Shore turns the many parks and lakefront into colorful works of art. Be sure to take in the changing of the leaves at any of the parks to experience the beauty of this season.
During the end of fall and into early spring, the South Shore can get pretty chilly. If you're looking for some winter fun, be sure to lace up the snow boots and put on some mittens before heading to any of our exciting hills for some sledding. If you're looking to stay warm, the South Shore is home to numerous museums, galleries and attractions to keep the fun coming during colder weather.
