  1. Scream for ice cream at Fair Oaks Farms! Creamy sweet treats are a must in the summer.

  2. Hike the Dunes. Explore the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore or the Indiana Dunes State Park.
     
  3. Fly through the skies at Edge Adventures at Deep River. This is the South Shore’s newest attraction, so be sure to cross it off your list this summer!
     
  4. Take the journey at the Shrine of Christ’s Passion. Walk the pathway at this free attraction in the South Shore.

  5. Get wacky at Pierogi Fest. This is the South Shore’s wackiest festival – complete with plenty of Polish food, the Polka Parade and live entertainment. The fun takes place the last weekend in July.
     
  6. Gather fresh produce and unique finds at Chesterton’s European Market. Open Saturdays from May through October in historic downtown Chesterton.
     
  7. Skate in downtown Valparaiso. Roller skate rentals are available at Central Park Plaza during summer months.

  8. Relax on the beaches of Lake Michigan. Grab a blanket and sunscreen and enjoy a beautiful day listening to the waves.
     
  9. Take a selfie with Orville Redenbacher at the Popcorn Festival. Enjoy the vendors and free live entertainment during this annual September event.
     
  10. Soar down a slide at Deep River Waterpark. Spend the day sliding down waterslides, lounging in the river or splashing in the wave pool.

  11. See the bison at Kankakee Sands. You may even see calves! Viewing is open to the public 365 days a year.
     
  12. Visit Whoa Zone, a floating water park at the City of Whiting's Whihala Beach.

  13. Relive the 60's at this year’s Touch of Dutch Festival. Complete with a 5K, parade and festival in DeMotte.
     
  14. Camp out under the stars with family and friends.

  18. Catch a game. The SouthShore RailCats offer affordable seats for the entire family.

  20. Enjoy the children's garden at Friendship Botanic Gardens or the Railway Garden at Gabis Arboretum at Purdue Northwest.
