Gary, Indiana

Gary, located on the South Shore of Lake Michigan, is the second largest city in Lake County. Gary offers many fascinating historical sites and entertainment options in addition to the beautiful Indiana Dunes.

Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore and Indiana Dunes State Park span 25 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline from Gary to Michigan City and offer 45 miles of trails through tranquil forests, intriguing wetlands, expansive prairies, rambling rivers and of course, majestic dunes.

The Gary Bathing Beach Aquatorium, built in 1921, serves as a museum honoring the father of flight, Octave Chanute, and the Tuskegee Airmen. The redeveloped Marquette Park, constructed in the early 1920s, boasts a beautiful pavilion, sand dunes, wetlands, ponds and 1.4 miles of white sand Lake Michigan beaches.

The Majestic Star Casino and Hotel, located on Lake Michigan, offers superior gaming, fine dining and exciting shows. Baseball fans will enjoy watching the SouthShore RailCats play professional minor league ball at the beautiful U.S. Steel Yard.

Lake Street Gallery, featuring original works by local artists and craftsmen, specializes in art inspired by the Indiana Dunes and the shores of Lake Michigan.

Miller Beach, on Gary's far eastern side, has wonderful restaurants for your dining pleasure. Pizza lovers will enjoy the Miller Pizza Company and Flamingo Pizza of Miller. If casual fine dining is your preference, Miller Bakery Café is a local favorite, featuring a fresh approach to New American cuisine, succulent seafood, the choicest grilled meats and innovative small plates.
