From free meals and sweet treats to special discounts, restaurants, shops, hotels and more are showing their appreciation for those who served. Here you’ll find plenty of year-round “thank you” deals waiting along with Veterans Day specials. Just don’t forget your military ID — and maybe an empty stomach!

Below is a list of veteran and military specials available year-round.

The Barker Mansion, Michigan City - Free admission to veterans and active military.

Capri’s Pizza, Schererville - 10% off with military ID. 

Crossroads YMCA, Lake County Locations - Veterans, as well as their families, receive a 20% discount on their monthly membership fee and will not pay a joiner's fee ($50 savings).

Crown Rentals, Crown Point -  10 % discount for veterans.

Culinary Misfits, Crown Point -  Veterans receive 10% off their main dish and non-alcoholic beverage.

DOC’S Smokehouse, Dyer -  10% off for veterans.

Eyewear on the Square, Crown Point - Discount offered to veterans.

Fair Oaks Farms – Veterans receive $5 off a one-day admission (access to all three adventure museums and both pig and dairy tours). Applies to the veterans only, not additional family members. Active military receive a one-day admission for free.  

Hard Rock Cafe, Gary - 15% off food, non-alcoholic beverages and retail purchases from the gift shop. Must present a valid military/veteran ID.

Hesston Steam Museum, La Porte – Free blacksmithing lessons for veterans every third Tuesday. Learn more here. 

Hilton Garden Inn Chesterton - 10% year-round veteran discount.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites, Portage - 15% discount to all veterans.

Horseshoe Casino, Hammond - Every Monday, active or retired military service members can get a Caesars Rewards Salute Card when they present valid ID and badge at the Caesars Rewards Experience Center. Then, every Monday, they can present the Salute card to get $10 in free casino play.

Humane Indiana, Munster - Veterans and active military with valid military ID receive the lowest pricing tier for services at their Estelle Marcus Animal Clinic. Appointments can be made by emailing info@humaneindiana.org. Tier one is the lowest pricing option and is substantially lower than all local animal-related facilities. The Humane Indiana shelter at the same address offers discounted rates to all disabled veterans looking to adopt a pet.

Indiana Dunes National Park - All National Parks have FREE entrance on Veterans Day.

Lubeznik Center, Michigan City - Active military and veterans receive free entry to their Lubeznik Art Festival every August.

Memorial Opera House, Valparaiso - Ticket discounts for veterans for their mainstage productions. 2025 ends with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The 2026 schedule includes Something Rotten, A Little Night Music, Footloose, Rock of Ages, The Secret Garden and their Penguin Project shows, High Tide Cabaret and Finding Nemo, as well as their annual Holiday Pops Concert presented by South Shore Orchestra. Morkes Chocolates, Cedar Lake - 10% discount all the time for veterans.

Net Par, Crown Point, Munster and Chesterton - Active duty and military veterans can play in their Partner league for free. This includes waiving the fee to enter the league, and weekly bay time. They must play in designated league slots, which are set aside on Thursdays from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Book online here and filter by location and 'Military'.

Parlor Doughnuts, Crown Point, Munster and Valparaiso - 15% off active duty military and veterans, as well as first responders.

Residence Inn Hammond - Veterans can stop by the Courtyard Bistro from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. for a complimentary Starbucks drip coffee. 

Square Roots, Crown Point –  Veterans receive 10% off their main dish and non-alcoholic beverage.

Tavern on Main, Crown Point - 10% discount for veterans.

Tethan’s Candy and Confections, Chesterton - 10% discount for veterans.

Toys In The Attic, Crown Point - 10% discount on most brands for current military or a veteran with an ID (excludes certain companies because discounts are not allowed).

Up Your Alley, Schererville – 10% off walk-in bowling & axe throwing reservations, as well as 10% off their main dish and non-alcoholic beverage. The discount does not apply to online reservations, parties or full bill in the restaurant.

Bedarra Bar, Crown Point - 10% off any food item for any veteran on Veterans Day.

Bellaboo's Play & Discovery Center, Lake Station - Admission will be complimentary for veterans and includes a cup of coffee on Veterans Day. Additionally, customers who donate two non-perishable, non-expired canned goods will receive one free adult admission with the purchase of one child admission.
